16 strokes Breathing to rebuild your Health

Hello!

One of my students just joined back my clases after having surgery due to cancer so I looked for a pranayama (breathing meditation) that would help her. I share it with you hoping it may also help one of you during your recovery phase. This pranyama is the breathing in 16 strokes to rebuild your Health, taught by Yogi Bhajan on September 5th 1979. When practice correctly this kriya can completely rebuild your glandular system. It can also free your body from toxins and rebuild your cells.

Posture: Sit in Easy Pose, cross-legged postition, with a straight spine.
Mudra: Bring your palms together and interlace your fingers, closing your hands together, with the tumbs resting next to each other, touching on the edges without crossing. Bring your hands at heart level with your elbows resting on the sides of your body
Eyes: not indicated
Breathing:
Inhale in 16 fast and equal strokes through the nose. Count the strokes vibrating mentally the mantra Sa Ta Na Ma /Sa Ta Na Ma/ Sa Ta Na Ma/ Sa Ta Na Ma (it should take around 6 seconds for the complete inhalation)
Exhale with the same pattern, in 16 fast and equal strokes through the nose. Count the strokes vibrating mentally the mantra Sa Ta Na Ma /Sa Ta Na Ma/ Sa Ta Na Ma/ Sa Ta Na Ma (it should take around 6 seconds for the complete exhalation)
Time: Start with 3-5 mintues to build your practice to 11minutes. The maximum time is 31 minutes, don’t overdo it.

Don’t forget to Tune in before with the Adi Mantra (Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo 3 times) and the Mangala Charan Mantra (Aad Guray Nameh, Jugad Guray Nameh, Sat Guray Nameh, Siri Guru Dev-ay Nameh 3 times). Then close your practice with the Longtime Sun and Sat Nam (3 times)
