A Mala is a simple and effective tool that can help reduce stress and increase wisdom, patience and health.
A mala can be used with any hand. Always start with the bead next to the guru bead (the biggest bead). As you repeat the mantra, move each bead with your thumb toward the body, over the meridian point as explained below. With each repetition of the mantra, move only one bead per mantra, not per syllable or word. For example: when you recite the mantra SAT NAM WAHE GURU, move only one bead for the entire mantra. To start again, turn the mala to return from the same side, you should never pass the guru bead. Move the beads toward you and continue your mantra.
You can use a Gemstones Mala and you will benefit from the unique properties of each gemstone.
Every finger you use is related to a different part of the brain. When you pass the mala on the meridian point of the desired finger, you create a different result. The meridian point is located next to each finger, between the fingertip and the first knuckle:
You can use any affirmation or mantra of your preference. The recitation of your mantra can be done in silence, whispering or aloud. You can do them informally while you spend your day or in a deep meditative state. Sit cross-legged on the floor or in a chair with your feet on the floor. Sit with your spine straight, with your chest out and chin in. You can focus your eyes on the third eye. Recite your mantra with your mala, as described above for 11, 31 or 62 minutes. Remember to listen to your mantra, use the navel point and stimulate the meridians with your tongue.
